Nubank (NYSE: NU) customers across Brazil now have access to a new alternative for fuel payment transactions.
Users of the Shell Box app, Shell’s platform for experiences, “can now enjoy the convenience of paying for their fuel using NuPay, an online payment method for Nubank customers, at participating Shell stations nationwide.”
This payment option, available for both debit and credit options, “is being rolled out gradually to all customers in Brazil in the coming weeks.”
Ricardo Berni, Director of Marketing and Payment Methods at Raízen:
“We constantly seek ways to enhance our customers’ refueling journey, offering solutions that simplify their daily routine. Incorporating NuPay into Shell Box not only streamlines transactions but also provides our customers with another secure and efficient option for their purchases at Shell stations and Shell Select convenience stores.”
João Banzato, Director of Payments at Nubank said:
“We are thrilled about this partnership as it represents a significant step in our commitment to offer our customers innovative and practical financial solutions. The integration with Shell Box makes daily transactions easier for our customers, enabling quick and secure payments and enhancing the convenience of using NuPay. This is yet another example of how we are continuously expanding the Nubank ecosystem to simplify people’s financial lives. From now on, our customers can enjoy even more practicality and benefits when choosing NuPay as their payment method for fueling up.”
Launched in March 2022, NuPay is now available “in more than 130 stores and offers a faster, simpler, and safer experience for customers: when selecting the payment method at checkout, users are redirected to the Nubank app to finalize their purchase without the need to input credit card details.”
Payments can be made using the account balance or split into 12 installments.
The payment method also allows all purchases “to be approved directly in the Nubank app with just a few clicks. Depending on the customer’s profile and credit analysis, Nubank offers the possibility of an additional limit for different purchases.”
This way, users can purchase products or services “at establishments offering this payment option without consuming their credit card limit at Nubank.”
To use the service, users simply need to place their order “via Shell Box as usual and select NuPay as the payment option when completing the transaction.”
Within the app’s virtual wallet, the customer can register their NuPay account under the “payment methods” menu.
There is also the option to select ‘Nubank’.
By choosing this, the consumer will be “directed to the Nubank app, where they must choose between credit or debit.”
Then, just confirm with the four-digit password, and that’s it—no need “to enter lengthy numbers, codes, or credit card details. Payment with NuPay is exclusive to Nubank customers, and it’s necessary to have the digital bank’s app installed and active on the device to perform the integration.”
