Digital Assets Custody Firm Copper Obtains TCSP License in Hong Kong

Copper, a firm focused on digital asset custody, collateral management, and prime services, has secured a Trust or Company Service Provider (TCSP) license in Hong Kong.

This license, granted by Hong Kong’s Companies Registry, “represents a key milestone in Copper’s global market expansion and its compliance with international regulatory frameworks and standards.”

As Hong Kong continues to establish itself as a forward-looking global hub for digital assets, this license approval will enable Copper “to leverage the region’s regulatory framework and infrastructure, expanding market reach and providing secure and compliant digital asset services to a global client base.”

Copper’s expansion into Asia and wider markets “reflects the company’s global growth ambitions and the strength of institutional demand for solutions enabling access to digital asset markets, whilst mitigating exchange counterparty risk in a capital efficient manner.”

Copper’s ClearLoop was the first off-exchange settlement solution “for digital assets, offering comprehensive mitigation of counterparty risk without compromising liquidity.”

It has become the largest global network “for off-exchange settlement, processing 13.1 million trades with a notional value of US$109.9bn in June this year.”

All of Copper’s secure custody services are underpinned by Multi-Party Computation technology, “directly addressing any risk of key exposure in online transactions.”

Dmitry Tokarev, Founder and CEO said:

“This is a key development in Copper’s expansion in the Asia Pacific market. Combining trust and efficiency is fundamental to our institution-first approach. This license approval in a key global hub only strengthens that unique offer, highlighting Copper’s compliance with Hong Kong’s regulatory frameworks and standards.”

Since being founded in 2018, Copper has been “building the standard for institutional digital asset infrastructure with a focus on custody and collateral management.”

Underpinned by innovative technology, Copper has built a comprehensive and secure suite of products and services “required to safely custody and trade digital assets.”

At the core of Copper’s infrastructure is ClearLoop, which enables clients “to manage collateral and settle trades across multiple exchanges, while mitigating counterparty risk and increasing capital efficiency.”
