BigPay, the digital financial services division of Malaysia-headquartered Capital A Bhd, has expanded its operations to Thailand.
The e-wallet service, which offers features ranging from trip savings to seamless global payments and real-time currency exchange, aims to enhance financial inclusion in the region.
The launch event in Thailand was attended by Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A and Executive Chairman of MOVE Digital, Zubin Rada Krishnan, Group CEO of BigPay, Apirudee Prachyaset, Country Head of BigPay Thailand, and Nadia Omer, CEO of AirAsia MOVE.
BigPay provides a Visa Virtual card and a Physical Visa Platinum Prepaid card, allowing users to digitally sign up and make payments at over 130 million merchant locations globally. The card also supports cash withdrawals from overseas ATMs.
The e-wallet includes features like ‘Stash’ and ‘Roundup’ to help users save, along with a Spending Analytics tool for detailed spending insights.
New users can benefit from up to 555 baht in discounts and cashback on AirAsia flight bookings and earn up to four times AirAsia points on various deals.
Furthermore, BigPay users can avail a special discount of 388 baht on the Asean Explorer Pass by AirAsia MOVE, which allows them to redeem AirAsia flights across ASEAN for a year.
Fernandes emphasized that BigPay’s entry into Thailand broadens the ecosystem and provides customers with a comprehensive experience in payment options and financial services, promoting seamless travel.
He highlighted the role of BigPay in driving financial inclusion and economic growth, particularly for underbanked communities.
Apirudee Prachyaset noted that the BigPay Visa Platinum Prepaid card offers not only discounts and AirAsia points but also exclusive travel and shopping experiences globally.
She underscored that features like Stash, Roundup, and Spending Analytics are designed to foster healthy financial habits and effortless saving for Thai users.
