The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) says it has experienced a record breaking day in regard to government securities clearing. According to DTCC, the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation’s (FICC’s) Government Securities Division (GSD), cleared $9.2 trillion in daily activity on September 3rd. This follows a previous strong number on July 31st when they cleared $8.8 trillion.
In the past 12 months, the total activity for the sector has increased by 42% year-over-year.
Laura Klimpel, Managing Director and Head of DTCC’s Fixed Income and Financing Solutions, said that FICC has become a crucial component in the US Treasury market.
FICC’s GSD is described as the leading provider of trade comparison, netting, and settlement for the Government securities marketplace.
