Contactless Payments: Japan’s International Payment Provider JCB Reportedly Enables Google Pay for Clients

JCB Co., Ltd., Japan’s international payments provider, announced that it enabled Google Pay for its clients.

Android(TM) smartphone users are able to now easily use Google Pay in stores where JCB Contactless is accepted, by adding credit/debit cards issued by the JCB Group in Japan to Google Pay.

In order to use Google Pay, would have to download the Google Wallet app and then proceed to add your JCB Card.

JCB says that it intends to further extend this support to various other JCB brand card issuers both in Japan as well as other markets.

Google Pay is described as a contactless mobile payments service for Android smartphones.

It’s worth noting that contactless payments are expected to grow in adoption in the coming years. Consumers and businesses are increasingly looking for faster, cheaper, and more efficient ways to complete digital transactions. In a post-COVID world, many more business processes have become fully digitized. This has helped onboard millions of users to the fast-evolving digital economy. Moreover, innovations in Fintech and digital finance are expected to accelerate the globalization of more services.

As explained in the announcement, by adding your credit card or other payment methods, you can make payments with your smartphone.

With built-in authentication, transaction encryption, and fraud protection, Google Pay helps keep your money and personal information secure. Keeping sensitive details secure and accessible only to authorized parties has become more critical than ever with the rise of AI-enhanced fraudulent activities and the increase in cybersecurity threats in general.

As mentioned in the announcement, JCB Contactless is a payment method that enables secure, simple and fast payments.

As explained in a release, you are able to use your JCB Contactless card or smartphone with your JCB Card being added to a mobile wallet, at different stores and for services, such as Transit, by tapping it on the reader.
