Animoca Brands, the firm that is advancing digital property rights for gaming and the open metaverse, announced a new partnership with GEODNET, which is said to be the “decentralized” Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) network, to advance mixed-reality gaming and immersive experiences, and integrate cutting-edge location technology into consumer applications.
In addition, Animoca Brands has invested in GEODNET in order to support its growth within the Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) community, while driving the development of location and mixed-reality technologies, bridging the “gap between the physical and virtual worlds.”
GEODNET will work with Mocaverse, the consumer network with an interoperable infrastructure layer of Account, Identity, Reputation, and PointFi systems seeded by Animoca Brands, in order to help “facilitate network growth and explore precise location integration into various consumer applications in the Moca Network.”
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, said that they are impressed with GEODNET’s ultra-precise location technology, which opens up new “possibilities for mobile and gaming experiences.”
Siu added that its DePIN of Satellite Miners provides centimeter-level accuracy, enabling developers to “create engaging mixed-reality applications that seamlessly blend digital and physical worlds.”
GEODNET reportedly passed a governance initiative (GIP4), paving the way for Web3 mobile apps “powered by its precise location technology.”
The partnership between Animoca Brands and GEODNET aims to “accelerate the fusion of blockchain with real-world experiences.”
GEODNET is described as being a “highly reliable, Web3 RTK Network that uses DePIN principles.”
Using only a “low data rate” network connection, Real-Time Kinematics enables a 100x improvement in position accuracy “as compared to standalone GPS.”
GEODNET’s global network of RTK stations complement “on-device sensors such as Cameras, LiDAR, and IMU’s to power AI-based Autonomous Systems with accurate real-time 3D localization.”
Mocaverse is Animoca Brands’ project dedicated to becoming the go-to Web3 platform for consumers to “maximize” their Web3 exposure to experiences and rewards.
Seeded by Animoca Brands’ 540 portfolio companies, Mocaverse is building the Moca Network, a network of networks with a single login entry point where partners can “co-build different consumer applications for Web3 onboarding.”
As covered, Animoca Brands is a Web3 service provider that leverages blockchain to deliver digital property rights to consumers “around the world to help to establish the open metaverse.”
The company develops a broad portfolio of products.
