As the web3 and blockchain industry prepares to close out the year 2024, the team at Crypto.com has made several important announcements.

Crypto.com customers in Singapore are now able to donate to the Salvation Army by paying in crypto, with plans to further expand the service into other regions.

Crypto.com has also recently appointed Mohammed Al Hakim as President of UAE Operations. The company continues to expand its presence in the UAE with the recent acquisition of brokerage firm Orion Principals Limited, as well as the launch of its AED Wallet.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Philadelphia 76ers and Crypto.com will unveil on Sunday, Dec. 22, “Spectrum Sprint,” a Web3 mobile video game through which players can “unlock and earn digital collectibles in a Web3 locker and win exclusive 76ers prizes.”

This game is part of a series of Web3 games centered “around the 76ers’ 2024-25 Nike City Edition uniforms and the iconic Philadelphia Spectrum, home to the 76ers from 1967-96.”

The 76ers are the first team in the NBA to launch “a series of Web3 video games to celebrate a uniform.”

Crypto.com also announced the appointment of Matt David to President of North America and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.

David will transition into the role with former President of North America Jim Grabow who will remain “on the Board of Directors and Senior Advisor until his retirement at the end of the year.”

David has reportedly been a member of the Crypto.com executive team since 2021, serving as Chief Communications Officer.

In his new role, David will continue to oversee global communications and government affairs “as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer in addition to his responsibilities as President of North America.

Eric Anziani, President and Chief Operating Officer of Crypto.com said:

“Jim deserves enormous credit for the incredible growth Crypto.com has experienced in the U.S. over the last eight years. While we’re sad to see Jim retire from his day-to-day role, we have no doubt Matt will successfully lead Crypto.com’s U.S. business given what is expected to be a sea-change in the regulatory approach with the new administration.”

David added:

“The U.S. crypto market is uniquely positioned for significant growth with an incoming administration committed to providing regulatory clarity for digital assets. I’m thrilled to work alongside an incredibly talented team to continue driving growth and building trust at Crypto.com.”

Prior to joining Crypto.com, David served in the George W. Bush administration and served “as deputy chief of staff for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.”

He was most recently Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Juul Labs.
