Mini Apps are putting the power of the growing World Network community on “full display.”
As noted in a blog post, there are currently more than 22 million people on World Network, including 10,247,382 verified humans.
As of January 2025, Mini Apps were seeing as many as “5.4 million opens per day from over 1 million unique humans.”
In addition to this, World Chain is maintaining the “highest UOPS/TPS ratio of any Ethereum blockchain according to L2Beat.”
This provides a strong signal that World Chain is mostly “comprised of real humans using apps and not bots doing automations.”
In order to support the humans both using and developing Mini Apps, a series of new features are rolling out (as of January 15, 2025).
It starts with the new Contacts tab, letting you see and manage your contacts on World, invite new ones and favorite the ones you use often.
Usernames are also now available in the World App wallet, allowing you to search by username in P2P transactions and “see usernames in your transaction history.”
There are a range of other features for users and developers too, including:
- Contacts Command: Use contacts inside any Mini App
- Push Notifications: Mini Apps can now send opt-in push notifications
- Quick Actions: Add deep links to Mini Apps for seamless interactions between apps
- UI Kit: Build Mini Apps faster and easier with a new library of pre-built web components
- Settings: Quickly manage your Mini Apps and their permissions from World App settings
To help more builders create Mini Apps, World and FWB, the culture DAO, are teaming up with Alchemy, Bain Capital Crypto, Blockchain Capital and Variant Fund on an incubator called World Build.
The incubator program will reportedly include in-person hackathons, build retreats, a demo day and much more running between Feb-May, 2025.
It’s an opportunity yet to get involved and leverage “the power of Mini Apps and the distribution of World Network.”
