Digital Payments Provider Checkout.com Teams Up with Travel Platform GetYourGuide

Checkout.com, a global digital payments company, announces its partnership with GetYourGuide, the online travel experience platform.

According to the announcement, this latest partnership underscores Checkout.com’s commitment to helping “digital-first” businesses to thrive.

GetYourGuide is reportedly known for connecting travelers with local providers to book tours, attractions, and activities, “listing over 150,000 experiences worldwide on their digital platform.”

Beyond serving travelers, GetYourGuide empowers locals to explore their passions by building their businesses on the platform, “creating a global digital ecosystem of community-driven experiences.”

The company chose Checkout.com as its partner to support its global growth as the “trend for booking travel experiences online continues to soar.”

Since 2019, using Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), such as GetYourGuide, to book travel experiences has grown by “200%, making it the fastest growing vertical for travel.”

The collab ensures that GetYourGuide’s customers can access secure payment experiences across multiple geographies.

With the support of Checkout.com, GetYourGuide customers can “book, pay for, and secure tours and experiences for their travels online in their own language, and in the currency of their choice.”

Arjun Muralidharan, Director of Product at GetYourGuide, explained the decision:

“As our business grew, we needed a partner that could meet the demands of our global customer base. Checkout.com’s robust acquiring capabilities, advanced technology, and localized payment options empower us to provide an exceptional booking experience. … We’ve already partnered with them in the UK and Germany, and look forward to working together in more of our key strategic markets such as Japan and the US.”

‍Checkout.com processes payments in over “55 countries worldwide, supporting over 145 currencies.”

Its continued global expansion was marked recently by the opening of a new office in Tokyo alongside “direct acquiring capabilities in Japan.”

For GetYourGuide, this partnership means a better performing payments system that keeps their “operations running smoothly and supports their growth globally.”

By leveraging Checkout.com’s modular payments infrastructure, GetYourGuide gains access to:

  • High performance payments across borders: A simplified and efficient payment process ensures it’s a dream for travelers from around the world to book their dream experiences.
  • Localized payment options: Checkout.com’s global reach supports region-specific payment methods, aligning with GetYourGuide’s focus on customer-centricity.
  • Data-driven insights: Real-time analytics and reporting allow GetYourGuide to make informed decisions and continually enhance its payment setup.

This partnership ensures GetYourGuide can cater to the demand for unique experiences, backed by a digital-first payment system.

This is important for younger travelers, who prefer digital booking options and may be “cash-constrained – 54% of those booking cultural, historic, and natural monument experiences last year were either Gen Z or Millennials.”

With features like flexible payment methods and options to reserve now and pay later, Checkout.com helps GetYourGuide to “meet the needs of this growing segment of digital-native adventurers.”

‍Antoine Nougué,  Chief Revenue Officer at Checkout.com, commented:

“At Checkout, we are firm believers that we are living in an increasingly digital-first world, and our partnership with GetYourGuide is an excellent example of how high performing digital payments can shape real world adventures. We are proud to partner with them on this journey, delivering the payments infrastructure needed to support their mission. Together, we’re enabling travelers worldwide to book life-enriching adventures online with ease.”
