Cybersecurity startup Archipelo has raised $12 million in funding to expand its developer security posture management (DevSPM) platform, according to a company announcement.
The round included a $4 million pre-seed and an $8 million seed round, led by Dell Technologies Capital, with participation from Zoom CEO Eric Yuan, Andy Bechtolsheim, Bill Tai, David Weisburd of 10X Capital, Gil Penchina, Ed Roman of Hack VC, Anima Anandkumar, Samsung NEXT, Nima Capital, and Sangha Capital.
Archipelo, headquartered in San Francisco, plans to use the funds to enhance its product capabilities, expand its engineering team, and accelerate its go-to-market strategy. The company focuses on securing software at the source by monitoring developer actions and AI-generated code risks.
The firm’s platform introduces four key capabilities aimed at improving software security: Developer Detection & Response (DevDR), which provides real-time risk visibility by identifying security threats introduced by developers and AI; AI Code Risk Monitoring, designed to detect vulnerabilities in AI-generated code; Automated Developer Tool Inventory, which identifies unauthorized tools in development workflows; and Developer Security Posture Analytics, which evaluates individual security performance and promotes a security-conscious developer culture.
Archipelo’s funding comes as enterprises increasingly focus on cybersecurity solutions that address risks at the development level, especially with the rising adoption of AI-assisted coding.
Security vulnerabilities in AI-generated code have become a concern for organizations relying on automated development tools, prompting demand for proactive monitoring and risk mitigation strategies.
The investment from a mix of venture capital firms and technology leaders underscores growing demand for solutions that mitigate security risks introduced by AI-generated code and unauthorized development tools.
As software development environments become more complex, companies are seeking innovative ways to integrate security directly into their workflows without disrupting productivity.
Archipelo’s expansion efforts aim to position it as a key player in the cybersecurity industry, offering enterprises a comprehensive solution for managing security risks in software development.
