Rise of Retail Investors and their Impact on Private Markets Examined in Research Report

Juniper Square, a firm focused on connected fund technologies and services for private markets GPs, has released “Rise of the Retail Investor: Impact on the Private Markets,” a report in collaboration with PitchBook, that explores the rise of retail investors in the private markets and how General Partners (GPs) will need to adapt to meet growing demand.

The report, which draws on PitchBook and other data sets, “provides analysis on the booming private market investments landscape which is set to double to more than $60 trillion by 2032.”

It details a key driver in this growth–the retail investor–which could account for up to “$7 trillion in net new capital flowing into private markets investment.”

To adequately adapt amid this ongoing shift, it is critical for GPs to adopt technology that “enables them to operate with greater efficiency, automation, and scale.”

Alex Robinson, CEO and Co-Founder of Juniper Square, provides actionable insights for GPs as they seek to “meet demands of the burgeoning retail investor audience and deliver an integrated, smart, and simple investing experience akin to what they have come to expect from the public markets.”

Robinson added:

“If GPs want to earn their piece of this $7T pie, they’ll need to scale their operations and modernize their technology to meet the expectations of these overwhelmingly digitally native investors. At Juniper Square, we’re focused on empowering our GP customers with the connected fund technologies and services they need to seize this opportunity and be better positioned to distinguish themselves in an evermore competitive fundraising environment.”

Juniper Square believes three particular areas where GPs must “focus are investor onboarding, investor management, and fund administration.”

Implementing modern, connected fund technologies and services that deliver leading capabilities like “investor CRM, digital subscriptions, investor reporting, and insights alongside fund administration enables GPs to meet the demands of institutional and retail investors in the private markets, both now and in the future.”

As covered, Juniper Square is dedicated to “transforming the private markets investing experience.”

The company provides a “range of modern, connected fund technologies and services for over 2,100 private markets GPs across fundraising, reporting, fund administration, treasury, compliance, and business intelligence.”

Today, more than $1 trillion of assets as well as 600,000+ LP accounts are reportedly being “managed through Juniper Square software and fund administration services.”
