Malaysian Wealth Management Platform Versa Secures Funding for Growth Plans

Malaysia-based wealth management platform Versa has completed its Series A funding round led by AHAM Asset Management Berhad (AHAM Capital), the company said, as it looks to accelerate user growth and expand its product offerings over the next five years.

Other investors in the round include Tengku Fahad Mua’adzam Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, a Princeton University alumnus, and Versa’s Chief Executive Officer Teoh Wei-Xiang. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2021, Versa started as a digital cash management solution and has since evolved into a comprehensive wealth platform, now offering nearly 20 conventional and Shariah-compliant investment funds.

The platform said it has attracted about 300,000 registered users in Malaysia, with 90% of them under the age of 40.

In 2024 alone, Versa helped users collectively save over MYR 500 million ($113 million), underscoring the growing appetite for digital wealth solutions among younger Malaysians.

“This funding is a testament to the confidence our investors have in our vision,” said Versa Chairman Noorazman. “We are committed to driving financial inclusivity and providing Malaysians with innovative, transparent, and rewarding investment solutions.”

Versa initially gained attention by removing front-end fees—typically ranging from 2% to 5%—thereby making investment more affordable for the mass market.

AHAM Capital Managing Director Teng Chee Wai said Versa’s approach is aligned with the firm’s long-term view on financial services innovation.

“We believe Versa is well-positioned to transform the wealth management industry in Malaysia,” he said. “This investment is among AHAM Capital’s largest, reflecting our strong belief in Versa’s potential and leadership.”

Versa recently launched Versa Quest, a gamified feature that enables users to unlock bonus interest rates by completing financial tasks.

According to the company, some users achieved returns as high as 9.3% in January 2025. Former Malaysian minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who serves as Versa’s ambassador, has been instrumental in promoting the feature.

A recent internal survey involving 2,912 Versa users found that 97% of Gen Y and Gen Z participants were willing to make lifestyle changes to improve their financial well-being, highlighting a generational shift toward proactive financial management.
