Airwallex Obtains Payment Service License in Israel

Airwallex, a global payments and financial platform for businesses, announced it has secured a Payment Service License in Israel.

This milestone marks a step forward in Airwallex’s global expansion and underscores the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance and customer trust.

With this license, Airwallex is authorized to offer its suite of global payment solutions “directly to businesses in Israel.”

This includes multi-currency accounts, cross-border payments, card issuing and expense management, and embedded finance capabilities – built to simplify growth for Israeli companies.

The license enables Airwallex to provide local and international businesses in Israel with access to its suite of payment solutions, including:

  • Multi-currency accounts to collect, hold, and pay out in Israeli shekels (ILS) and 30+ global currencies
  • Reliable cross-border payments to over 150 countries
  • Card Issuing, both virtual and physical, for streamlined global and local spending
  • Embedded finance APIs for seamless integration into tech platforms
  • Spend Airwallex’s solution to manage and track company spending with the use of AI in a single platform

The Israeli license solidifies Airwallex’s presence in the region, “establishing the country as a hub for its EMEA operations.”

It allows Airwallex to “support Israeli scale-ups, global enterprises with operations in and out of Israel, and new regional partnerships as market opportunities grow.”

Airwallex was founded in 2015 in Melbourne, Australia.

The company recently completed a “$300 million Series F funding round at a valuation of $6.2 billion.”

The company employs 1,800 people across 25 offices worldwide and “plans to continue hiring its team in Israel and across the Middle East in 2025.”

As noted in the update, Airwallex is a financial platform “building the future of global banking for modern businesses.”

By combining infrastructure with software and AI, Airwallex is reimagining how businesses “manage accounts, access capital, control spend, and embed financial services.”

Designed to replace legacy systems, Airwallex offers a platform for global financial operations—providing “multi-currency business accounts to payments to spend management and embedded financial products.”

Founded in Melbourne and “trusted” by businesses worldwide—including TikTok, Rippling, Navan, Qantas, and SHEIN—Airwallex is powering global banking without borders.
