Mastercard Teams Up with Uber, Extends Partnership with American Airlines, Launches AI Card Design Studio

Mastercard (NYSE:V) announced a series of initiatives that underscore its commitment to enhancing digital payment experiences, fostering rewarding customer relationships, and leveraging digital technology.

By deepening its global partnership with Uber, renewing its long-standing collaboration with American Airlines, and launching the AI Card Design Studio, Mastercard is positioning itself as a key player in the payments sector.

Mastercard has expanded its relationship with Uber, aiming to streamline payment processes for drivers, couriers, and consumers while enhancing benefits for cardholders.

This partnership leverages Mastercard’s suite of payment solutions, including Mastercard Move for real-time disbursements, Mastercard One Credential for simplified payment experiences, and Mastercard Gateway for secure transaction processing.

A key component of this collaboration is the renewal and expansion of the Uber Pro Card, currently available in the United States and Canada, with plans to introduce it in the United Kingdom and other markets.

The Uber Pro Card enables drivers and couriers to receive instant, no-cost payments after every trip or delivery, coupled with attractive cash-back rewards on gas purchases.

By integrating Mastercard One Credential, the card offers a digitally connected experience, providing more payment flexibility.

For Uber’s global customer base of over 170 million users, Mastercard’s Offers Platform will deliver various benefits, hopefully enhancing the value of delivery and mobility services.

With Mastercard’s network connecting over 3.5 billion cards and 150 million merchants, this collaboration aims to enable better payment experiences, supporting Uber’s operational growth and consumer engagement.

Mastercard’s renewed partnership with American Airlines, announced on July 21, 2025, reinforces its role as the payment network for American’s AAdvantage co-branded credit cards.

This agreement strengthens one of the world’s co-branded portfolios, delivering travel rewards and personalized experiences for AAdvantage cardholders.

Leveraging Mastercard’s payments infrastructure and analytics, the partnership enhances the AAdvantage program with personalized offers, optimized rewards, and secure transactions.

Cardholders benefit from real-time fraud detection and new ways to redeem miles for Mastercard’s Priceless Experiences, such as VIP access to cultural events, meet-and-greets with athletes, and tours at various destinations.

As American Airlines serves over 350 destinations in more than 60 countries, this collaboration ensures that cardholders take advantage of curated travel privileges tailored to the modern global traveler, blending security and unique experiences.

On July 24, 2025, Mastercard unveiled the AI Card Design Studio, a platform that enhances card design for issuers.

Available in North America, Europe, and Australia through the Mastercard Connect platform, this AI-powered tool enables issuers to create stunning, customized card designs with unprecedented speed and efficiency.

By streamlining market readiness and enhancing brand impact, the studio transforms card design into an enhanced process.

Cheryl Guerin, Executive Vice President of Global Brand Strategy and Innovation at Mastercard, described it as “a leap forward in how cards are imagined, built, and brought to life,” emphasizing its ability to create cards that resonate with consumers.

The AI Card Design Studio builds on Mastercard’s history of design, from multisensory branding to sustainable card programs aimed at eliminating first-use PVC plastics by 2028.

By enabling partners to craft visually striking and meaningful cards, Mastercard is reshaping the intersection of technology and creativity in the payments industry.

These initiatives reflect Mastercard’s mission to power economies and empower people across more than 200 countries.

By integrating technologies like AI, real-time fraud detection, and digital payment solutions, Mastercard is hoping it can coninue fostering a more inclusive digital economy.

The Uber and American Airlines partnerships aim to enhance customer experiences through improved transactions and tailored rewards, while the AI Card Design Studio sets a standard for modern card issuance.

Together, these efforts indicate Mastercard’s commitment to connecting people, businesses, and governments to their full potential, ensuring transactions are functional and practical.
