Abyan Capital Introduces Shariah-Compliant, Self-Directed Access to US Markets with Alpaca

Abyan Capital, a robo-advisory1 investment platform in Saudi Arabia, announced the launch of their new self-directed trading service. The service will reportedly enable users to trade US equities as well as open high-yield savings accounts in compliance with Shariah law. Supporting this offering is Alpaca, a global enabler of brokerage infrastructure API offering access to options, stocks, ETFs, and fixed income.

Interest in US equities has overall been increasing among Saudi investors.

According to the Capital Markets Authority, transactions have “reached SAR193.4 billion (USD51.6 billion) in Q2 2025, a 230% year-over-year (YoY) increase.”

In addition to this, the US markets are said to have accounted for more than 98% of all international trading by Saudi investors, indicating the significance of providing continued, open access to US-based investment opportunities.

This launch strengthens the long-standing partnership between Abyan Capital and Alpaca, which began in 2021.

As covered recently, Alpaca announced its acceptance as a Nasdaq Exchange Member. This update helps to further strengthen Alpaca’s operations in the US market and reflects its ongoing progression toward building resilient, in-house, full-stack brokerage infrastructure.

Nasdaq membership enables Alpaca to connect directly to the exchange’s order book, offering improved access to its full depth of liquidity and suite of order types.

This milestone adds to Alpaca’s memberships with the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation (FICC) and the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), along with its DTCC clearing status.

These approvals now aim to enhance the company’s role as a recognized market participant.

Recently, it was also reported that Global Menkul Değerler (GMD), a publicly traded Turkish brokerage firm with experience providing brokerage services to individual and institutional investors, both domestic and international, in the capital markets, announced a partnership with Alpaca.
