Aberdeen, the specialist asset manager, announces its Global Private Markets Fund (GPMF) has now been onboarded onto the Allfunds Alternative Solutions Platform. The Aberdeen Global Private Markets Fund will now aim to reach a network of 900 distributors at a time when platforms like Allfunds are becoming “increasingly central to fund distribution.”
Xavier Meyer, Chief Executive Officer of Investments, at Aberdeen has said that their relationship with Allfunds goes back a number of years and they’re pleased to be bringing their private market expertise to Allfunds’ distribution clients in this next phase.
Meyer added that platforms such as Allfunds are becoming increasingly important for distribution and a key part of their ongoing plans to “ensure private market investments are accessible to a range of investors.”
They further noted that this collab enables them to bring their private markets experience and expertise to investors in the UK and “across EMEA at a time when the return and diversification opportunities of private assets are gaining interest.”
Nalaka De Silva, Head of Private Markets Solutions and Manager of the abrdn Global Private Markets Fund, at Aberdeen stated that vehicles for institutional investors and high-net-worth-individuals (HNWIs) have existed for years, but they have “typically had long lock-ups periods – often 10 years or more –making them inaccessible for many.”
De Silva also mentioned that with no lock-up period and quarterly liquidity, the Global Private Markets Fund offers investors “access to long-term growth opportunities through a diversified portfolio of private market assets.”
They further noted that the fund targets more high-potential private companies, next-generation infrastructure, real estate alongside private debt—seeking to capture “value across some of the dynamic segments of the global economy.”
They added that Aberdeen, alongside their sizeable public markets investments, they have been long-term investors into private markets.
Borja Largo, Chief Fund Groups Officer, at Allfunds, explained that the expansion of their private markets offering via the addition of Aberdeen’s Global Private Markets Fund represents another significant milestone in Allfunds’ ongoing commitment to delivering investment solutions at scale, and to meet the needs of clients.
Largo also stated that Aberdeen’s expertise and knowledge across private asset classes make it a good fit for them, and by leveraging their distribution capabilities and data-powered approach, they are now “helping to transform access to private markets for a wider range of investors across Europe and beyond.”
