SEC Chairman Paul Atkins is scheduled to testify in front of the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee later this week.
As Congress holds oversight on the SEC, these are standard hearings. This will be Chairman Atkins’s first appearance before the two committees.
As the Commission is working on a transformative update to the financial services ecosystem that incorporates digital assets and tokenization, the hearings will be closely watched by digital asset industry insiders. While the GOP majority has been supportive of Fintech innovation, some in the opposition have sought to halt the digital transformation. During the Biden administration, the SEC obtusely sought to undermine digital asset innovation. Today, the US is being viewed as leading sector change.
Both hearings will be livestreamed on Committee websites.
The House Financial Services Committee hearing will begin at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 11th. The Senate Banking Committee hearing will occur the following day at the same time.
