As regulators tighten scrutiny of artificial intelligence in finance, blockchain infrastructure firms are racing to build systems that can prove how autonomous AI agents make decisions.
Inveniam Capital Partners, a data infrastructure company for private markets, launched NVNM Chain, a Layer 2 blockchain designed to create immutable audit trails for AI agents operating in regulated sectors such as capital allocation, compliance, and treasury management.
The launch reflects growing concern across financial services over AI accountability as firms deploy autonomous agents faster than governance systems can keep pace.
“The conversation around AI in financial services has shifted from capability to accountability,” Inveniam founder and CEO Patrick O’Meara said.
Regulators are increasingly asking institutions to prove what data AI systems relied on when making decisions, he added.
The company said NVNM Chain allows AI agents to record source data, reasoning, and operator credentials on-chain through what it calls a “receipts layer” for AI activity. Mainnet is scheduled to go live on May 13.
The move comes ahead of several incoming regulatory deadlines tied to AI oversight.
The European Union’s AI Act enters its enforcement phase in August 2026, while FINRA has identified AI auditability as a supervisory priority in its latest oversight report.
In a statement, Inveniam said the chain includes a “Know Your Agent” credentialing system linking AI agents to verified human operators and restricting agents to pre-approved activities.
The company said the infrastructure has already been tested through TraceChain, a deployment involving AIRev and OnDemand for compliance monitoring tied to GPU export controls under frameworks associated with G42 and the Bank for International Settlements.
Inveniam said its broader platform has credentialed more than $200 billion in private-market assets across private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and commercial real estate.
