HYPE Token Surges Past Dogecoin Market Cap as Privacy focused Zcash and Monero Decline Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions

Hyperliquid’s native token HYPE briefly exceeded the market capitalization of the popular meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE). This development occurred during a period of heightened volatility, where privacy-centric cryptocurrencies experienced notable declines while global markets reacted to escalating tensions in the Middle East. HYPE achieved this feat amid Asian trading sessions, pushing its valuation ahead of DOGE before experiencing a modest retreat.

The token traded near $59, reflecting a roughly 4% drop over the previous day, while DOGE lingered around $0.101 with a smaller decline of about 0.8%.

Despite the short-term pullback, HYPE has demonstrated robust performance, climbing more than 23% over the past week.

This momentum stems largely from recent platform innovations, including the introduction of perpetual contracts tied to SpaceX pre-IPO opportunities, attracting both retail and institutional participants to the decentralized perpetuals exchange.

On the other side, privacy-oriented tokens faced steeper corrections. Zcash (ZEC) shed around 5.2%, trading near $619, while Monero (XMR) decreased by approximately 4% to levels close to $378.

These assets had enjoyed strong runs in prior weeks, supported by renewed emphasis on confidential transactions and institutional involvement, such as investments from firms like Multicoin Capital.

Industry professionals now largely attribute the recent dips to profit realization following extended rallies, rather than any erosion in the underlying appeal of privacy features.

The wider cryptocurrency ecosystem showed restrained movements, with major assets consolidating after previous advances.

Bitcoin remained steady near $76,500, Ethereum hovered around $2,087, and Solana stayed close to $84. Tron (TRX) stood out positively, advancing over 2.6%.

This consolidation followed a phase of broader gains, illustrating the market’s responsiveness to external pressures.

Geopolitical factors in the Middle East served as the dominant influence on sentiment.

Reports of US strikes targeting Iranian assets, including missile facilities and vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, prompted a resurgence in oil prices. Brent crude climbed nearly 2% toward $98 per barrel.

The US dollar gained strength, while other risk-sensitive assets displayed caution. Such developments often lead to temporary risk-off behavior across speculative markets like crypto.

This latest situation / incident underscores the evolving dynamics in digital assets, where DeFi platforms like Hyperliquid are challenging established players through technological innovation and high trading volumes. Meanwhile, the sensitivity of niche segments, such as privacy coins, to macro events highlights ongoing volatility.
