Keyrock Strengthens Institutional Digital Assets Trading Capabilities with BlockFills Integration

Brussels-based digital asset focused firm Keyrock has finalized the acquisition of key trading and brokerage assets from BlockFills’ institutional platform, marking a pivotal expansion of its services in the competitive cryptocurrency landscape. The move, announced on July 16, 2026, integrates advanced technology, client networks, and specialized expertise, positioning Keyrock to deliver enhanced liquidity, execution, and risk management solutions to professional investors worldwide.

This strategic transaction incorporates BlockFills’ institutional client relationships, proprietary trading systems, operational infrastructure, and deep knowledge in derivatives trading.

It bolsters Keyrock’s existing strengths in market making, over-the-counter (OTC) deals, options, credit facilities, on-chain tools, and asset management.

The addition aligns with rising institutional interest in sophisticated digital asset products, enabling Keyrock to offer more comprehensive support backed by its robust balance sheet and compliance framework.

The deal also broadens Keyrock’s regulatory presence. It includes a Cayman Islands entity authorized by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), with a proposed addition of a UK entity regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), pending approval.

These elements complement Keyrock’s established licensed operations across multiple jurisdictions, providing greater flexibility for global institutional clients.

Keyrock executives highlighted the value of the integration.

Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Juan David Mendieta emphasized the opportunity to enhance the team with top talent and expand global reach.

“This acquisition represents an exceptional opportunity to further strengthen our team with outstanding talent and accelerate our global reach in serving institutional counterparties,” he noted.

The BlockFills group brings proven technology and expertise in institutional derivatives that pairs well with Keyrock’s platform.

Antoine Lours, Keyrock’s Head of Options Trading, pointed to derivatives as a high-growth area.

He stated that institutional demand for digital asset options and related products is accelerating, and the incoming expertise will elevate execution standards and client service.

The acquisition incorporates seasoned professionals, including Perry Parker, formerly leading institutional options at BlockFills with over 30 years of experience from Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank.

Dan Schak, with nearly two decades in risk, trading operations, and institutional systems, also joins, along with additional trading, operations, and commercial staff. Integration will occur in phases, with direct client communication to ensure smooth transitions.

This development follows BlockFills’ earlier challenges, including its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

The Chicago-based firm had built a strong institutional presence, serving around 2,000 clients and handling over $60 billion in trading volume in 2025, focused on liquidity, financing, OTC execution, and derivatives.

The selective asset purchase allows Keyrock to retain valuable components efficiently.

For Keyrock, founded in 2017 and employing over 220 professionals internationally, the step accelerates its evolution as a full-service crypto investment group.

It builds on prior growth, including a high-profile Series C funding and the Turing Capital acquisition, reinforcing its role in bridging traditional and digital finance.

As institutional adoption of crypto deepens in 2026, this consolidation reflects broader industry trends toward scalable, regulated platforms capable of meeting sophisticated demands. Keyrock’s enhanced offerings are poised to support clients navigating complex markets with efficiency.
