BNB Chain May Take Legal Action Against Former Worker Over Unauthorized Memecoin Launch From Tutorial Wallet

BNB Chain has announced it is taking legal steps against a former employee who allegedly used a wallet originally set up for an educational video to release a new memecoin without any company approval. The blockchain network, linked to the Binance ecosystem, stressed that it has no connection to the token and cannot manage the associated address.

According to the project’s official statement, the wallet in question was created by the individual while still employed, specifically to demonstrate the process of generating a token during a training video.

That demonstration involved a test token and was never intended for real-world trading or promotion.

After the person left the organization, they reportedly kept unauthorized possession of the seed phrase tied to the wallet.

With that access, they generated a fresh private key and later deployed a new meme token from the same address.

BNB Chain made clear that it played no role in creating, approving, promoting, or taking part in the token’s launch.

The network also stated it holds no authority over the token itself or the wallet.

Officials emphasized that the project and address have no affiliation with BNB Chain and have not received any endorsement from the team.

The former staffer is no longer with the company in connection with this matter.

The announcement highlighted ongoing cooperation with relevant authorities as part of the response.

This step aims to address the unauthorized activity and protect the broader community from potential confusion.

Memecoins often gain rapid attention on networks like BNB Chain due to their viral nature and low barriers to entry, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings when an address carries any prior association with an established project.

The situation underscores challenges around credential management after employee departures in the blockchain space.

Demo or tutorial wallets, while useful for educational content, can create lingering risks if access controls are not fully revoked. Seed phrases and related keys must be treated with the same rigor as other sensitive systems during offboarding processes.

Public blockchain addresses remain permanently visible, so any perceived legitimacy from past official use can influence trader behavior even years later.Binance founder Changpeng Zhao publicly referenced the episode, describing the individual in strong terms and advising users to remain cautious.

On-chain observers have noted activity linked to the address involving significant token movements shortly after the new memecoin appeared, though BNB Chain has not claimed ownership or involvement in any of those transactions.

For participants in the BNB Chain ecosystem, the episode serves as a reminder to verify project origins carefully.

Tokens or wallets lacking clear official confirmation through verified channels should be approached with heightened scrutiny.

The network continues to support legitimate development and educational efforts while drawing firm lines against unauthorized use of its infrastructure or branding associations.

As the legal process advances and authorities become involved, further details may emerge regarding the extent of the activity and any remedies sought.

In the meantime, BNB Chain’s public clarification aims to separate its brand and operations from the independent actions of the former employee. This case illustrates both the openness of public blockchains and the importance of robust internal security practices long after staff transitions occur.
