Oracle and Quantinuum Partner to Enable Hybrid Quantum-AI Computing on the Cloud

Quantinuum and Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) have formed a multi-year strategic alliance to integrate quantum computing into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Announced on August 11, 2026, the collaboration centers on deploying Quantinuum’s Helios system—a leading commercial quantum computer—inside a U.S.-based OCI AI data center.

This will allow OCI users to access high-fidelity quantum resources as a managed service, working seamlessly alongside the platform’s existing high-performance computing (HPC) and GPU capabilities.

The partnership focuses on hybrid quantum-AI workloads.

By placing Helios on-premises within OCI, the system is expected to connect directly with Oracle’s compute, networking, storage, identity, and data services while operating under the same governance and access controls that customers already employ.

This setup aims to lower barriers for organizations seeking to experiment with quantum approaches without acquiring, installing, or managing specialized hardware and facilities themselves.

Helios, Quantinuum’s third-generation trapped-ion quantum computer that became commercially available in November 2025, features 98 physical qubits.

It has demonstrated performance with up to 48 logical qubits and delivers an average two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.921 percent, positioning it among the most accurate commercial systems available.

Designed for hybrid environments, the machine consumes roughly 60 kilowatts—less than one percent of the power draw typical of classical supercomputers—making it an energy-efficient complement for appropriate workloads.

Oracle plans to introduce a preview of its OCI quantum service in the coming months.

The offering will pair Quantinuum’s development tools with open-source hybrid programming frameworks, enabling developers to progress more smoothly from classical simulations to execution on actual quantum hardware.

Potential applications span drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, large-scale optimization, logistics, energy, and related AI-driven challenges.

The companies also intend to expand opportunities for universities and research institutions pursuing scientific discovery and education.

Leaders from both organizations highlighted the broader vision.

Quantinuum President and CEO Dr. Rajeeb Hazra noted that the next era of enterprise computing will likely emerge from uniting quantum, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing.

Deploying Helios within OCI, he said, creates a distinctive, tightly integrated setting for hybrid workloads, customer exploration of practical use cases, and faster commercial uptake.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Executive Vice President Mahesh Thiagarajan observed that AI has expanded organizational possibilities, and quantum computing can further enlarge the set of solvable problems.

The goal is to provide developers with a practical, secure path to investigate how quantum resources can enhance existing AI and HPC efforts on OCI while boosting efficiency and reducing energy demands.

Additional voices underscored the practical benefits.

Experts pointed to simplified access within familiar cloud environments as a key factor in accelerating adoption, allowing researchers and enterprises to concentrate on innovation rather than infrastructure management.

The arrangement reflects a shared belief that combining these computing paradigms can tackle complex problems that strain conventional architectures alone. The collaboration marks an important move toward making hybrid quantum-classical capabilities more accessible in commercial cloud settings, potentially accelerating progress across science, industry, and research.
