FMO Provides €30m Green Facility to Turkey’s Garanti Leasing

Dutch development bank FMO is providing a €30 million ($35 million) senior unsecured facility to Turkey-based Garanti Leasing to support financing for green projects, small and medium-sized enterprises, and equipment, according to a project document seen by CrowdFund Insider.

The facility will be fully allocated to green projects and will support Garanti Leasing’s continued growth in productive SME and equipment financing, with an emphasis on energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable assets, FMO said.

The financing also supports Garanti Leasing’s strategy to expand its clean-energy portfolio and complements parent Garanti BBVA’s broader focus on sustainable finance.

Garanti Leasing has more than three decades of operating history in Türkiye’s leasing market and was among the country’s top three leasing companies in 2025, with a 12.4% share of new transaction volume.

The company reported total assets of $1.6 billion at the end of 2025 and a net profit of $154 million.

FMO said its long-term funding provides additional financing in a volatile market environment where longer-tenor funding has become less accessible for leasing companies.

The facility is expected to strengthen Garanti Leasing’s liquidity position and diversify its funding base, supporting its growth over the medium to long term.

FMO has labeled 100% of the investment as green because the financing supports activities that contribute to climate mitigation and climate adaptation.

The investment contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action, according to FMO.

The development bank classified Garanti Leasing as Environmental and Social Category B under its Sustainability Policy. The classification applies to activities that potentially have limited adverse environmental and social risks or impacts.

Garanti Leasing applies Turkish environmental and social laws and regulations, FMO said.

FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, invests in businesses, projects and financial institutions in emerging markets and developing economies.

Its investments are focused on areas including financial institutions, energy and agribusiness, food and water.
