Hunter Biden Outlines LAPTOP Memecoin Airdrop and Burn-or-Charity Rules Ahead of Base Launch

Hunter Biden has publicly described how the LAPTOP memecoin will distribute tokens to selected groups and how a large portion of supply will be either destroyed or given away, depending on whether a list of real-world events comes to pass.

The coin is scheduled to launch on the Base network and takes its name from the computer that became a political controversy years earlier. Biden has presented the project as an effort to take back a story long told by others.

The token has a total supply of one billion. Twenty percent is reserved for community airdrops.

Ten percent will become available at launch through a claim process run by the Phoenix Veritas Foundation, which issues the token.

Another ten percent is held for later giveaways decided by the same foundation.

Early eligibility is split between two named groups: people who lost money on the TRUMP memecoin, who are assigned two percent of total supply, and subscribers to Biden’s “Where’s Hunter?” newsletter, who are assigned eight percent.

Tokens left unclaimed after the opening window are expected to be burned.

Thirty percent of supply is linked to thirty public predictions covering politics, markets, and culture.

Several of those outcomes are associated with prediction market platforms.

If a listed event happens, the related tokens are scheduled to be burned. If it does not happen, the same amount is designated for charity.

Project materials also set aside additional tokens for charitable use even if none of the predictions resolve in a particular direction.

Biden has said holders should not count on him or anyone else to raise the token’s price, arguing that LAPTOP is meant as a statement as well as a digital asset.

Official allocation figures list thirty percent for founders, including Biden, with those tokens subject to lockup and a multi-year vesting schedule.

Other slices are described as covering liquidity, a foundation treasury, and related operating needs.

The project states that the token confers no equity, ownership, or other economic interest in a company and is presented as a memecoin for entertainment and community participation.

Full unlock of the supply is described as stretching across thirty-six months from generation.

The design mixes a politically loaded brand with two unusual mechanics: a targeted giveaway to people who lost money on a rival political memecoin, and a large pool whose fate is tied to public events rather than a simple team wallet.
