Digital Asset Bank: Anchorage Digital Enables Bitcoin Staking

Anchorage Digital says it now offers Bitcoin staking to Bitcoin holders.

Anchorage Digital is a federally regulated bank with a mission to support the digital asset sector. Bitcoin staking is its newest service, enabling clients to stake BTC held at Anchorage and benefit from staking on Stacks. Anchorage notes that this is not handed off to a third party but remains on Bitcoin level 1, with institutional-grade custody.

Clients can enroll in and fund a BTC bond directly from their Anchorage Digital Bank account, monitor their assets, receive weekly rewards in BTC, and receive their BTC principal at maturity.

Anchorage states that returns from Bitcoin staking have typically meant taking payment in another asset, whether a network’s own token or a derivative that must be sold to realize value in BTC. PoX-5 pays rewards in BTC on Bitcoin L1.

BTC staking mostly means earning yield by lending it, locking it on an exchange, or using a protocol that uses BTC as collateral. Rates can vary, depending on the pathway. Anchorage says it’s filling a gap for institutions that want to put their Bitcoin to work but lack institutional-grade management and custody.
