ABN AMRO Extends Infosys Partnership to Scale AI Solutions Across the Bank

ABN AMRO Bank (ABN.AS) and Infosys (NYSE: INFY) have agreed to extend their long-running technology partnership, with a sharper focus on simplifying the Dutch lender’s IT environment and spreading artificial intelligence more widely across the organization.

The announcement, issued on 30 September 2026, frames the renewal as a step toward enterprise-wide AI adoption rather than a collection of isolated pilots. Infosys will handle application development, testing and ongoing support.

The stated aims are to modernize platforms, raise operational efficiency and scalability, and create more room for innovation.

A central element of the work is Infosys Topaz, the company’s suite of generative and agentic AI tools.

The idea is to embed these capabilities deeper into ABN AMRO’s technology estate so that data can be turned into practical, insight-led products and processes.

The partners also plan to streamline platforms, improve agility and speed up the delivery of digital services so that benefits appear more quickly.

Infosys says it will draw on its global engineering workforce and a mix of delivery models to keep efficiency gains sustainable.

The intended outcome is a more scalable, secure and future-ready IT foundation that can support continuous change rather than one-off projects.

Carsten Bittner, ABN AMRO’s Chief Innovation and Technology Officer, described the renewed arrangement as a way to simplify and modernize the bank’s IT landscape while advancing responsible AI use across the company.

He said the work should improve operational efficiency, increase customer value and cut complexity and running costs.

Jay Nair, Infosys executive vice president and industry head for financial services and the public sector, called the extension an important milestone that reflects the trust built over years of collaboration.

He said Infosys would combine banking-domain knowledge, a resilient global delivery model and Topaz capabilities to re-architect core systems, reduce IT complexity and put AI to work in a deliberate, sustainable way.

The emphasis, he added, is on precise execution as well as scale.

The deal sits in a broader pattern among large European banks: moving from experimental AI use cases toward programs that touch core operations.

ABN AMRO, one of the Netherlands’ biggest banks, has worked with Infosys on earlier transformation efforts, including cloud and DevOps initiatives.

The latest agreement keeps that relationship intact while shifting the center of gravity toward AI-enabled modernization.

Neither company disclosed the commercial value or exact duration of the renewed contract.

The public statements concentrate instead on the intended operating model: fewer fragmented systems, faster digital delivery, and AI treated as an enterprise capability rather than a collection of standalone experiments.

For Infosys the renewal reinforces its position in European financial services at a time when banks are under pressure to contain costs, meet regulatory expectations and still invest in new technology.

For ABN AMRO it offers a way to tackle technical debt and complexity while trying to extract more value from data and automation.

The partnership will be judged on whether it actually reduces operating complexity and produces measurable improvements in efficiency and customer experience. Those outcomes, rather than the announcement itself, will determine how successful the extension proves to be in the long-term.
