Radio personality, actor and comedian, Adam Carolla’crowdfunding campaign on FundAnything has surpassed $400,000 in first week. Carolla is crowdfunding his film, “Road Hard” with a goal of raising $1,000,000 over the next 37 days.
Carolla will write, direct and star in this film which entails a plot line about a former standup-turned-sitcom-star who, after the cancellation of his show and a divorce, is forced to go back on the road and perform at the dumpy clubs he played on the way up. In between gigs, he has long days on the road and longer nights in hotels wrestling with the fact that his best days may be behind him, and the question of whether to stay in the game at all.
Carolla commented on the effort;
“My fans are so loyal and have supported all my other projects – the podcast, my books, and my line of booze, Mangria. I
couldn’t imagine making a movie without enlisting them,” said Carolla. “I really want to do this outside of the Hollywood system and the only way to make that happen is with my fans, friends and supporters going to FundAnything and pitching in on the project.”
The rewards based crowdfunding has levels beginning at $10 all the way up to $16,500 which includes photos in credits and dinner with Carolla and the Road Hard team.
Carolla joins a growing line of crowdfunding film campaigns, some of which have generated enormous funds and exposure such as the Veronica Mars or Zach Braff’s film crowdfunding on Kickstarter.
