Initially scheduled for tomorrow, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Crypto Task Force meeting on privacy and surveillance has been postponed.
The SEC has posted a notice stating that, due to a lapse in appropriations, the gathering will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Financial Surveillance and Privacy Roundtable is expected to bring together industry insiders who are at the forefront of developing technologies designed to protect individual privacy. There will also be a discussion on financial surveillance – a hot topic today in a world of CBDCs and digital identity.
SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce says that technology that helps individuals protect their privacy is critically important, as people should choose who has access and they can protect themselves from criminals.
