The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Antonia M. Apps, a deputy director in its enforcement division who oversees the regulator’s Northeast offices, will leave the agency on Dec. 1, 2025.
Apps, a former federal prosecutor and law firm partner, has served as Deputy Director of Enforcement (Northeast) since early 2025 and previously ran the SEC’s New York Regional Office, the agency said in a statement.
Margaret A. Ryan, director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, said Apps had provided “steadfast leadership” and “strategic counsel” in tackling complex enforcement matters and in managing staff across multiple offices.
Apps said it had been a privilege to help lead the division and to oversee the New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago regional offices, adding she was “consistently inspired by the dedication, integrity, and resilience of the staff who define this great agency.”
As New York regional director from January 2023 to January 2025, Apps supervised more than 600 attorneys, accountants, investigators and examiners and led the region’s examination and enforcement programs.
Under her leadership, the New York office brought more stand-alone enforcement actions and completed more examinations than any other SEC office, the agency said.
The office also hired more staff over a two-year period than at any other time in its history and expanded its investor education and outreach efforts.
Apps was named acting deputy director of the enforcement division in January 2025 before taking on the role overseeing the Northeast region later that year, helping to steer enforcement work nationally.
Before joining the SEC, Apps was a litigation partner at Milbank LLP and previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where she pursued securities fraud and other white-collar cases.
She has also taught white-collar criminal law and procedure at Harvard Law School and earlier worked at several prominent law firms.
The SEC did not name a successor.
