Kraken Launches TradFi Futures for Professional Traders in the EU

Investment platform Kraken has rolled out new capabilities on its advanced Pro platform, delivering fresh avenues for portfolio diversification, hedging, and income generation. Announced recently this month, these features merge conventional market exposure with crypto-native tools, catering to experienced traders who demand multi-asset functionality in a single interface.

The first innovation brings traditional finance futures contracts to eligible European Union clients.

Now live, the offering unlocks roughly 70 fixed-term contracts across prominent categories: equity benchmarks such as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 (available in micro, mini, and standard sizes), commodities like gold and oil, and major foreign exchange pairs.

These integrate directly alongside the platform’s existing catalog of over 290 cryptocurrency perpetual futures, enabling users to execute strategies across both worlds without switching accounts or applications.

Traders can open long or short positions with leverage—subject to qualification and product-specific limits—while committing far less capital than the full notional value.

A key differentiator is the near-24/5 trading window, which mirrors the Chicago Mercantile Exchange schedule and runs Sunday evenings through Friday afternoons Eastern Time.

This extended access lets participants respond immediately to macroeconomic news, interest-rate decisions, or commodity spikes outside standard equity hours.

Real-time Level 1 market data is supplied at no cost once the dedicated futures wallet is funded, with optional deeper order-book visibility available.

To activate, EU users complete a straightforward eligibility review, update their app or platform, and allocate funds.

The entire setup complies with CySEC oversight and adheres to established CME standards for transparency and reliability, giving users confidence in a regulated environment while preserving the speed and tools they use for crypto derivatives.

Complementing this launch is the debut of Dual Investments, a collateralized product that lets participants earn a predetermined fixed yield while incorporating a targeted view on Bitcoin or Ethereum prices.

Initially offered to qualifying users in supported Rest-of-World jurisdictions—with further geographic expansions planned—this time-bound offering settles automatically on Fridays, either weekly or bi-weekly.

Investors choose their input asset (BTC, ETH, or USD), select a maturity date, and set a specific target price level. An upfront annual percentage rate is quoted clearly, ensuring yield accrual in every outcome.

Two intuitive strategies simplify participation. In the “Sell High” approach, users deposit cryptocurrency with an optimistic target above current levels; if the market meets or exceeds it at expiration, payout arrives in USD plus the full yield, effectively securing a premium sale price.

If not, the original crypto holding returns with added earnings.

The “Buy Low” variant starts with USD and a conservative target below spot price; hitting the level converts the position into BTC or ETH plus yield, allowing acquisition at a favorable rate, while missing it keeps the dollars intact with profit.

Funds remain fully secured until maturity, and payoff scenarios are previewed transparently before confirmation to support informed choices.

Both updates underscore Kraken’s focus on building a unified, trader-first ecosystem.

By combining extended-hours traditional futures for hedging and speculation with yield-enhanced crypto views, the platform equips users to manage risk and pursue returns across asset classes more efficiently than ever.

As eligibility broadens and features evolve, these tools now potentially position Kraken Pro as a comprehensive destination for some of the more sophisticated market participants.
