Singapore AI Health Tech Startup Genie Health Raises $3m Seed Funding

Singapore-based Genie Health has raised $3 million in seed funding to expand its artificial intelligence platform, which helps individuals make sense of their health information and enables clinics to provide more personalised care.

The funding round was led by Nadathur Family Office, with participation from Liminal, a founder studio backed by Temasek, and two healthcare executives. Anand Nadathur, principal of Nadathur Family Office, will join the company’s board.

Genie Health plans to use the proceeds to improve its AI capabilities, bring its clinic-focused platform to more healthcare providers and expand its product, engineering and healthcare teams in Singapore.

The company offers two products. Its Genie app gathers information from health reports, laboratory tests, wearable devices and other sources to give users a clearer picture of their health.

Genie SmartCare, meanwhile, uses agentic AI to engage patients, arrange appointments and follow-ups, and help clinics draw on a broader range of patient health information.

The company is addressing a gap between the growing amount of health data available to individuals and their ability to understand what it means for their wellbeing.

Users can store their information in a digital health locker and receive insights tailored to their health history and individual circumstances.

Healthcare providers face a similar challenge as they manage increasing patient workloads. Genie SmartCare is designed to handle routine engagement outside consultations while bringing together health records and wearable data to give care teams a more complete view of their patients.

Healthcare professionals retain oversight of the process, the company said.

“Members tell us they have more health information than ever, but still struggle to understand what it means for them and what to do next,” said Hari V. Krishnan, Genie Health’s co-founder and chief executive.

The company sees an opportunity to improve preventive care as Singapore’s population ages and chronic conditions become a growing concern.

One in three Singapore residents has at least one chronic condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or problems managing blood glucose, according to the Ministry of Health’s National Population Health Survey 2024.

Genie Health was founded by Krishnan, Maya Hari and Sandeep Suvarna, who have held senior roles at technology companies in Asia and other markets.

Krishnan was previously chief executive of PropertyGuru Group, where he led its New York Stock Exchange listing and subsequent $1.1 billion sale to EQT.

He also headed LinkedIn’s Asia-Pacific business. Hari formerly led Terrascope and Twitter’s regional business, while Suvarna held international marketing roles at Twitch and LinkedIn.

Philip Chan, senior builder at Liminal, said the team’s experience building technology businesses and the potential for AI to help people and healthcare providers use fragmented health information more effectively underpinned the investment.

Genie is available free on iOS and Android, while Genie SmartCare serves healthcare providers.
