Unless you are looking to pick up a pretty cool T-shirt or just give some backer “pure love” – you will be out of luck in reserving a Mini-Museum reward as this crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter blew the doors off an interesting project for a museum.
Hans Fex, in Sterling, Virginia came up with the concept of creating a pocket sized collection of rare and fascinating specimens from around the world. From mammoth hair, to a T-rex tooth and from the Apollo 11 command module to dinosaur dung – there is certainly something for everyone. Truly a fascinating collection of history. All of these fragments are encased in clear acrylic – something you will be able to view – and talk about for the rest of your time.
Fex set out to raise just $38,000. He is ending up crowdfunding quite a bit more. In the final minutes of his project he stands at $1,227,236 contributed from over 5000 backers.
This portable museum is the genesis of 35 years of collecting awesome specimens. Each mini-museum is hand-crafted and individually numbered. No word if there will be additional mini-museums post crowdfunding campaign but hopefully Fex will clarify in an update as this is definitely the perfect gift for the person who already has everything (or for yourself if you are fascinated by history).
