RockThePost Publishes Investor Trends Report

RockThePostNew York based equity crowdfunding site RockThePost has published an investor trends report looking back over the past few years in the Angel / VC scene.  The data was correlated via an online survey of 780 random investors between September and November of 2013.  There study reveals some interesting shifts in the investing landscape.  Some of the high points include:

  • A Crowd of $100 Benjamin FranklinPortfolios include 15% more alternative investments than 10 years ago
  • Investors are relying less on intermediaries and doing more direct investments (cutting out superfluous middlemen)
  • Angel Investors committed about $23 billion in 2011, funding 67,000 startups & creating 274,800 jobs
  • Venture Capitalists contribute more but VC investments have declined
  • Average Angel investment was about $85,000 in 2012

Online trading platforms, a growing list of alternative investments and investor experience is propelling the shift and apparently creating greater efficiencies in capital allocation.  It probably should come as no surprise that in a low interest rate environment, overwhelmed by an excessive regulatory regime, smart investors seek opportunity elsewhere.  Of course RockThePost is one of these new growing sources of opportunity having facilitated over $23 million in equity funding to date.
