SnoopWall Oversubscribes Target Goal by over 150% on iBankers Direct, Raising $1.285M

SnoopWall for Android

Working with iBankers Direct, Las Vegas-based mobile privacy and security software company SnoopWall will imminently close its successful equity campaign, having raised $1.285 Million from 23 committed investors.  SnoopWall’s anti-spyware/anti-malware “counterveillance” patent-pending software detects and blocks remote control, spying and eavesdropping on computers, tablets and smartphones and eliminates data leakage.

Gary Miliefsky“Which apps are spying on you right now?” Snoopwall CEO Gary Miliefsky asks poignantly on the campaign video.  SnoopWall was founded in 2012 by Miliefsky, an information security expert and founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Their campaign asks,

“Did you know that your webcam, UBS mass storage, flash memory, microphone, infrared, Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi, ethernet, GPS SMS and contact lists can be enabled without one’s knowledge?” Miliefsky warns further, “Anti-virus and firewalls can’t protect you anymore!”

Such a warning resonates with any consumer or company whose privacy has been compromised;  NSA, Target and Neiman Marcus’ data breaches come to mind.

SnoopWall Reclaim Your PrivacyLooking up at the little sticker covering my own webcam while listening to SnoopWall’s foreboding warnings showing the hypocrisy of someone covering up her phone with blue masking tape. Gulp.  After reading “How to Protect Your Kids’ Privacy Online” by Julia Angwin, I promptly added the sticker, downloaded Ghostery and started surfing with DuckDuckGo.  Not only children remain at risk for identity theft. As one may expect, such simple precautions become nil against sophisticated, lurking cyber eavesdroppers and 0day malware.  With such persistent problems in mind, SnoopWall embarked on its “counterveillance” software.

I-Bankers Direct Serious CrowdfundingMiliefsky avers that consumers may keep their apps intact even with SnoopWall installed; all apps will still function with their core behavior intact but now without date leakage.  Identity theft will be avoided as  “criminals can’t pick your pockets.”  According to Miliefsky, “Neither anti-virus nor firewall solves the problem of lost user control.”

Further information gleaned from its company’s campaign presentation:

Having experienced a slew of glowing media reviews from Appolicious, AppEggs, CITEworld, The Guardian, Slashdot, AndroidApps and may others, SnoopWall has gained traction in its field.  Consumers may try SnoopWall for 30 days then upgrade to $.99 per month or $9.95 per year; options are available for multiple device packages and bundling.  Distribution models include direct, OEM and Channel with Pro and Enterprise Edition Sales.

Before Snoopwall Your Privacy is LostHow does SnoopWall’s technology work:

“SnoopWall flags and prevents cyber threats, acting as a “port authority” gatekeeper for access to high-risk data ports, including webcams, microphones, GPS, USB and other points of entry which are susceptible to becoming infected with malicious code.  Once SnoopWall’s software is installed, users are alerted in real-time of existing high-risk programs and applications.  The software also continues to block malware from embedding on devices.  By detecting and blocking malware, SnoopWall’s software prevents Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from being leaked to cyber intruders.  SnoopWall blocks Zero-Day (0day) and Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) to augment existing endpoint security.”

Consumers may hope that one day soon SnoopWall’s software will be pre-installed into their smartphones, tablets, mobile devices and computers.
