Kickstarter Generated Over $138 Million in Pledges During Q3

Kickstarter-now-liveKickstarter has always embraced the power of transparency.  There statistics are updated daily showing what types of crowdfunding is successful and which categories are not so much.  The company has gotten into the habit of doing quarterly updates and they just recently released some crowdfunding numbers for the 3rd quarter of 2014.

Kickstarter generated $138,917,566 in pledges for all of Q3 this compares to the $144,210,565 that was pledged in Q2.  The average daily pledge amount was $1,509,974.  Total backers for the period numbered 1,079,201 successfully funding 6,124 projects.  In the second quarter successfully funded projects numbered 5,716.  So Q2 to Q3 showed a decline in top line pledges but an increase in successful campaigns.  The numbers for Q3 include the current record holder Coolest Cooler too.

  • 17,155 Kano computer kits were shipped to backers. (We’ve already installed Doom on ours.)
  • 10,141 people backed 10 or more projects in the quarter.
  • 3,000 people (more or less) came out to our first-ever Los Angeles Film Fest. It was a beautiful night!
  • 2,186 people have hit the “Start a project” button in Scandinavia and Ireland. Creators there will be able to launch their projects on Oct. 21. 
  • 335 people backed 50 or more projects in the quarter. 
  • 139 video game and mobile game projects were successfully funded.
  • 14 new people joined the Kickstarter team at our headquarters in Brooklyn.
