Voices on Equity Crowdfunding

Small-business groups, crowdfunding sites, brokerage firms, securities lawyers and other stakeholders weighed in on equity crowdfunding on the Financial Industry Regulation Authority’s website between July and August, during an open comment period. The posts range from entrepreneurs’ pleas to keep regulations light, in order to free up more capital for their startups and small firms, to warnings of investor fraud if regulators don’t keep close tabs on “funding portals,” or crowdfunding Web sites.
