The Kickstarter crowdfunding effort launched by Rob Thomas to crowdfund the Veronica Mars film has set a new goal. Thomas wants their crowdfunding campaign to be the largest ever – in number of supporters.
On a recent update posted on their campaign page, Thomas stated,
We are in the home stretch now, Marshmallows! And here’s the new situation: our not-so-secret ambition is to have more backers than any Kickstarter drive in history. To do that we just need to get past Double Fine Adventure’s 87,142 backers. We just need 23,000 more backers.
The Double Fine Adventure campaign was for a video game crowdfunding project which raised over $3.3 Million and closed in March. The Veronica Mars campaign stands at over $4.5 Million raised to date by about 68,000 backers.
To help push the Veronica Mars crowdfunding effort higher the organizers have added a $1 dollar donor level which is certain to entice many potential supporters wanting to be part of the largest backer supporter campaign ever to have financed on Kickstarter.
Regardless of the results of this new objective the Veronica Mars film will be made. The campaign closes on April 12th.
