Equity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube was honored to have their CEO and Co-Founder Darren Westlake be the keynote speaker at the House of Lords on Monday 29 April. Hosted by Lord Erroll, Chairman of the All-Party group for Entrepreneurship, the event included a round table discussion which was labeled “Crowdfunding and how it can be leveraged to support entrepreneurial Britain”.
Westlake spoke specifically on the issues, challenges and opportunities of crowdfunding; the situation in the USA and why it’s so important for British entrepreneurs to raise finance and how difficult it is without crowdfunding.
It was posted on the Crowdcube facebook page that several companies which have successfully leveraged the equity crowdfunding platform were participating in the event as well. The companies included were Righteous All Natural, E-Car Club and East End Manufacturing each sharing their personal experiences raising funds.
Crowdcube list themselves as the worlds first equity crowdfunding platform. They have crowdfunded over £6,700,000 since inception. The crowdfunding industry was recently regulated by the British FCA but Crowdcube managed to begin equity crowdfunding prior to regulation adjusting their business strategy.
