For the first time in 15 years, Boston’s Labor Day weekend celebrations could get an extra boost of light.
Nearly two dozen local nonprofits and public agencies have banded together to bring fireworks to the Boston Harbor on Labor Day weekend, Saturday, August 31, 2013.
This week, the groups launched a Kickstarter campaign to help foot the $20,000 cost associated with the fireworks.
In a short video, Julie Wormser, executive director for the Boston Harbor Association, who is spearheading the campaign, says that Boston needs public celebrations more than ever right now.
“We need to be united in celebrating everything that Boston was, is and will become,” says Wormser.
