Hoo boy. This crowdfunding fad is really getting out of control. Sure, it gave everybody the “Veronica Mars” movie they always wanted but it has also crushed the meager dreams of Melissa Joan Hart, emboldened Zach Braff to unleash even more of his curdled whimsy on the world and encouraged every single producer in Hollywood to turn their cancelled TV shows into unnecessary movies.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Friday Night Lights is just one of the latest cancelled TV shows that could be transformed into an unnecessary movie. Producer Brian Grazer has announced that he may utilize crowdfunding for at least some of the film’s budget. Grazer also added that,
“We made a terrific feature with Pete Berg, turned it into a terrific TV series and will now make a movie from that series,” Grazer said. “I’m not sure such a thing has been done before.”
