Not for profit festival organizer Digital Shoreditch, along with their partners, have introduced the Million Pound Startup. This first ever contest is searching for a single promising company which will receive £1 Million pounds in investment funding. The contest is raising the money by incorporating the Seedrs crowdfunding platform. The funds raised to date already stand at over £375,000 – well on their way to the £1 Million goal.
The contest is an interesting and creative spin on raising funds to invest in a promising company. The event is global in nature but the winner will be required to set up shop in London. Organizers have high hopes for this inaugural event as they attempt to recruit the best and the brightest 
to compete for the funds. The expectations are the selected business will have the potential to reach £100 Million in value in just 5 years.
Supporters of the crowdfunding campaign may invest as little as £10 to participate with the offer functioning similar to any other type of equity crowdfunding on the Seedrs platform. The offering is open to both individual and institutional investors.
Digital Shoreditch advocates the UK as the best place in the world to grow an innovative business and they are doing something about it.
