SeedInvest Raises $1 Million In Round Led By Jumpstart New Jersey Angel Network

seedinvestSeedInvest has announced today that the equity-based crowdfunding platform has raised $1 million in a round led by the Jumpstart New Jersey Angel Network. The round is said to also include “several prominent individual investors.”

“SeedInvest is opening up new opportunities for a vast population of accredited investors, and will bring enormous amounts of new capital to startups,” said Harjinder Sidhu of Jacaranda Ventures. “The platform allows investors to do their due diligence on their own time, network with other investors and execute deals with little overhead.”

SeedInvest officially launched in February of 2013 and has already facilitated multiple equity rounds for American businesses. We previously reported on a $300,000 raise by social dieting company DietBet and the portal’s first successful raise for StearClear, a service that allows customers with their proprietary smartphone app to summon a driver. LISNR also just closed a round. We will have more on that company’s round next week.

The portal boasts a network of over 650 individual accredited investors. To date SeedInvest says that over 450 companies have pitched to be included on the platform. The SeedInvest team vets all submitted offerings and less than 2% will eventually find their way onto SeedInvest for funding.

“Working side-by-side on deals with professional investors has worked extremely well for us.” said SeedInvest CEO and Co-Founder Ryan Feit. “SeedInvest empowers angel groups and venture capitalists whereas others are merely looking to disrupt the existing ecosystem.”
