Film “Citizen Koch” Surpasses Crowdfunding Goal of $75,000

Citizen Koch on KickstarterCrowdfunding on Kickstarter, “Citizen Koch”. a film directed by Carl Deal and Tia Lessin, has surpassed their crowdfunding goal of $75,000 with plenty of time left on their crowdfunding campaign.

The project currently stands at over $105,000 pledged by over 2000 supporters.

“Citizen Koch” is a film about the  political influence of billionaire industrialists and conservative activists David and Charles Koch.  Originally the project was to receive $150,000 in funding from public television but the funding was suspiciously dropped.  The justification was linked to the possibility that the film may displease a certain PBS donor – none other than David Koch.

Apparently David Koch is a donor to PBS flagship stations WNET and WGBH and on their board of trustees.

The crowdfunding project received some high profile support by noted liberal activist and filmmaker Michael Moore.  He congratulated the success on twitter;

The crowdfunding campaign has several weeks remaining and continues to raise funds.
