Spike Lee has launched a crowdfunding campaign in an attempt to fund a new movie about “human beings who are addicted to blood.” on Kickstarter. He has set a goal of $1.25 million in 30 days.

In the pitch video, Lee says that he formulated the idea to go to Kickstarter with the project after one of his film students told him about recent ubiquitous crowdfunding hits by directors Rob Thomas and Zach Braff. He also states on his campaign page that there is no risk to the project being completed if he is funded. “If we are successful in attaining our goal of $1,250,000, this new Spike Lee Joint will get made. You can count on it,” Lee wrote. “Only an Act of God can stop this. And dat’s da ‘100% guaranteed’ truth, Ruth.”
