Second Kickstarter For ‘Shadow of the Eternals’ Fails

shadow of the eternalsA second Kickstarter campaign for Shadow of the Eternals has failed to reach a goal of $750,000.

This was the second Kickstarter campaign for what was to be the spiritual successor to Eternal Darknessa title released by Nintendo in 2002. It was critically acclaimed, although it also fell a bit short of sales expectations.

Eternal Darkness‘ setting is centered around a mansion in Rhode Island – the home of protagonist Alexandra Roivas’ grandfather – and a book that Alexandra finds there. It utilizes a third-person view in which the player must navigate a number of locations as twelve characters spanning different time periods. The game utilizes “sanity effects” to enhance the gameplay.

To recap, Precursor Games originally launched a Kickstarter campaign for Shadow of the Eternals seeking $1.35 million in funding for the game. The campaign was eventually pulled for lack of funding. The second campaign had a more modest goal, but full funding just didn’t seem to be possible, due at least in part to controversy surrounding the team at Precursor Games that included an arrest for child pornogrophy.

The team insists they aren’t going to give up on the game.

It is unfortunate that we were unable to crowd-fund this project at this time, but we have not given up. We intend to pursue other avenues with the ultimate goal of having our games come to fruition. Please feel free to migrate over to our Community Forums atwww.precursorgames.com/forums, as we will be keeping our forums open for people to enjoy and discuss everything Precursor Games.
