Mighty No. 9 Hits $2 Million On Kickstarter, Big Stretch Goals Becoming Reality

Mighty No. 9The Kickstarter campaign for Mighty No. 9 has hit $2 million with 19 days left. The campaign will spend the remainder of it’s lifecycle trying to ascend the all-time Kickstarter charts.

It was only 9 days ago that we were covering the $1 million milestone, so that gives some idea of velocity on this project. The initial interest and response was due in no small part to the involvement of Keiji Inafune, a former higher-up at Capcom. Capcom is responsible for legendary gaming titles like Mega Man, Resident Evil, Street Fighter and more.

He left Capcom after 23 years to start Comcept, the dev shop behind the Mighty No. 9 title, which is said to be similar to Mega Man.

At the $2.2 million funding level, the next stretch goal would mean versions of the game on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. $3.3 million will land Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions. It doesn’t seem smart to bet against that stretch goal becoming reality.
