This past Wednesday KIND Shave Oil ended their crowdfunding campaign having beat their $15,000 goal. KIND had decided to go the self-crowdfunding path as we covered this past August
The Austin, Texas based company created KIND Shave Oil as a non-GMO, USDA Certified Organic, all-in-one hemp peppermint shaving solution, that claims to make shaving “suck less”. Their project was a well organized and structured effort which included a great pitch video. If you are willing to invest the time and resources, and have a solid concept, this is certainly proof you can self crowdfund your business.
The KIND project is also a great example of pretail. Proving the demand prior to producing the product. Almost 250 backers from across the world pledged funds for the first production run. Early supporters have an immediate affinity for the product generating a unique type of brand loyalty – even before actually using the shaving oil.
