On Seedrs: “The Sleeping Room” Film Crowdfunding For Equity

Screen Shot 2013-11-05 at 10.36.41 AMThe Sleeping Room is asupernatural gothic horror film” from the same producers that made the film Panic Button, which received 5.2/10 stars on IMDb on an estimated budget of £300,000The film is now offering a 10.42% equity stake to investors on UK crowdfunding platform Seedrs. The producers are seeking a £25,000 investment from the crowd in exchange for equity.

In addition to seeking funding on Seedrs, the producers have also created a page on Slated, a matchmaking service for film financing – think AngelList for movies.

seedrsThus far the film has raised £1,620 toward their £25,000 goal. Investments are eligible for the UK’s SEIS tax scheme, which mitigates some of the downside risk through a tax incentive.

Filming is slated to begin in December of this year.

This is said to be the first instance of a UK movie crowdfunding for equity according to filmnews.co.uk.
