AR Wear’s Indiegogo Campaign Ends Fully-Funded

ar-wearAR Wear’s Indiegogo campaign ended in the overnight hours and did manage to be fully funded by the time all was said and done. This despite some serious backlash in the press and in the blogosphere over what some were calling the “modern-day chastity belt.”

AR Wear stands for anti-rape wear. The shorts have a button that makes it extremely difficult (or impossible) for anyone but the owner to remove the garment once it is on. Some criticized the approach, though, explaining that a rapist that is thwarted by shorts may turn attention to physical harm.

The campaign ended up raising $54,924 on a goal of $50,000. In the end over 2,200 backers pledged to the fixed funding campaign on Indiegogo, and backers that did pledge the funds necessary to net a pair of AR Wear shorts are said to be receiving theirs in July of next year.

Interestingly, 5 backers pledged at a $1,000 reward level to donate AR Wear garments to charitable organizations.
