Tellspec Hand Held Food Scanner Closes Over 3 Times Crowdfunding Goal

Scanning food TellspecTellspec Handheld Scanner Allows You to Know What’s in Your Food.

Crowdfunding on Indiegogo, Tellspec food scanner set a goal of raising $100,000 on October 2nd but closed on November 30th having raised $386,692 from 1765 backers.  Having quickly raised the initial $100,000 the campaign was extended to capture the growing interest in the product.

Toronto, Ontario based TellSpec Inc. was founded to build a healthier world by allowing people to make informed choices about what they eat.  The company has invented a system which combines a spectrometer handheld scanner that detects allergens, chemicals, nutrients, calories and ingredients in food, and then beams the findings to the users smart phone.  While most foods have labels these days, Tellspec takes the ingredients even further generating a revealing breakdown on what you may be eating.

“We are humbled by the overwhelming support we received during this campaign and it serves as a real validation that there’s a need for this product to help people find out what’s in their food,” says Isabel Hoffman, CEO and co-founder of TellSpec. “We are grateful for the positive feedback and personal stories we received from people around the world who have had health issues related to what they are eating. We are hard at work developing TellSpec to deliver to our early backers in 2014.”
